Finding Audrey Review
NAME: Finding Audrey
AUTHOR: Sophie kinsella
GENRE: Young Adult/ coming out of age
LANGUAGE: English
PAGES: 288
PUBLISHED DATE: 9 JUNE 2015
ISBN: 0553536515
MY RATING: 3 OUT OF 5
NOTE TO READERS: it's not a regular Sophie's work.so prepare yourself to not to be laughing your ass off but rather be stunned.
SYNOPSIS:
a teenage girl with social anxiety disorder after being bullied in school.lives her life in her "den", meets a guy, fell in love.
Audrey is suffering from social anxiety disorder, she cant leave her house, she cant take off her glasses, she goes to therapy regularly.her therapist wants her to keep pushing. then she meets Linus her brother's friend. with Linus she found the strength to do things that she thought was impossible.
FINDING AUDREY:
finally the book that address social anxiety and panic attacks. from the book its sure that Sophie has done a lot of research into it. session with therapist or dealing with her femininity the book has gone to a new perspective that other books cant
the story is narrated by Audrey, frank her brother was addicted online gaming(seriously who isn't), Anne her mother was "over protective", i found her to be annoying, maybe that's because i often put my self in franks position.
the story is short, jumps forward, Audrey backstory is not explained properly, i found it bit unsettling.
WRITING:
mostly elegant as usual Sophie, but in the beginning while Audrey explaining her story it was like "its irrelevant" "i don't wanna talk about it", which i later understand.
OVERALL:
A great book, any one can relate to it, done justice for "dealing with anxiety". the romance is not well to say,
Finding Audrey is about Audrey finding herself, coming out of the den with eyeliners to show the world her true beauty.
